Located 60 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Củ Chi is now recognized as a heroic district for its role in Vietnam's anti-American war. It is legendary for its original tunnel system, spanning over 220 km, and is a popular destination for both Vietnamese and international visitors.
The serene, rural scenery of rice paddies, with ducks and water buffalos swimming in rivers alongside the road, makes it hard for visitors to imagine the destruction, damage, and defoliation that once ravaged this area when Củ Chi was designated as a “Free Target Zone.” The remnants on display reveal Củ Chi’s past as a fierce battleground, preserving the evidence of the intense conflict that took place there.

As we begin our journey, observe the transition from bustling urban landscapes to the peaceful countryside. Along the way, you'll see rice paddies, quaint roadside vendors, and serene scenes of ducks and water buffalo swimming through lush rivers.
Upon arrival at Củ Chi, you'll explore the legendary tunnel system, extending over 220 km, which served as an intricate network of kitchens, bunkers, hospitals, and meeting rooms. You’ll have the chance to crawl through some of these narrow passageways and see firsthand how life was sustained underground. Watch an insightful documentary about the tunnels’ history and discover the locally crafted traps used during wartime.
Visit the weapons room to learn about the ingenuity of the Viet Cong soldiers and experience a sense of history as you traverse this extensive 155-mile (250 km) network. Highlights include the famous Hoàng Cầm Stove, which prevented cooking smoke from being seen, and a taste of tapioca, a wartime staple.
Although most tunnels were just wide enough for a single person to crawl through, some have been expanded to accommodate visitors. Marvel at the resilience of the construction, where the 10–13 feet (3–4 m) thick topsoil could withstand 55-ton tanks and bomb blasts.
